THE HOUSES

The houses divide life into various categories or activities, emotions, relationships, and work. There are twelve of these areas of specific function of life. The horoscope consists of twelve houses, starting from the ascendant, as the beginning of the first house, and going counter-clockwise to the twelfth house.


The 1st House


This is the house of Self. This house realtes to personality, mannerism, disposition and temperament. This is how you present yourself to others, and they way the world sees you. This can be a strong indicator of your physical appearance. It tells what you want in life, and how you go about achieving it. The first house relates to Aries. Key words: Physical appearance; I am; personality.

The 2nd House


This is the house of money and possessions, and ownership. It relates to your income, what you acquire and your personal finances. It is the house of your own personal values. This is how you feel about money, and waht you do with it. This can be your earning power, and the way you handle money. The second house relates to Taurus. Key words: Possessions; finances; money; earning capacity; personal values.

The 3rd House


This is the House of Communications, and your immediate environment. This relates to self-expression, family ties and local types of travel and communications. Lower education falls within this area, as well as the way you think, speak, and write. Memory, manual skills and logic fall within this house. Your relationship with your siblings, and direct family and neighbors are under this house's influence. This house relates to Gemini. Key words: Direct and immediate relations and communications; brothers and sisters; neighbors; short journeys.

The 4th House


This is the house of Home. It indicates your childhood home, and your relationship with your parents. This realtes to your ancestors, as well. This is the home you make for yourself in the present. This indicates your personal real estate and ownership. This also indicatesthe kind of security you want for old age. This is what you keep secluded and protected from the world. This is the place of your inner emotional security. This house relates to Cancer. Key words: home; ancestors; origin; foundation; house related to the closer parent; inner security.

The 5th House


This is the house of Creativity and Sex. This house rules pleasures and creativity of all sorts, including love affairs, entertainment, gambling, risk taking ventures, and your own creativity. This is where you find your artistic talents. Children are governed by this house, as this is your personal creativity. This is the house of your heart. This house relates to Leo. Key words: Self-expresssion; artisitc creativity; love affairs; your children; games.

The 6th House


This is the house of Health and Service. This is where you find a need to help others and to be useful in the world. This relates to servants and employees, as well as people you work with. The realtionship to health is where illness is often brought on by worry and emotional problems. This will often indicate what your constitution is like, and what kind of diseases you may be affected by. This house relates to Virgo. Key words: Physical health; work; service; routines.

The 7th House


This is the house of Partnerships and Marriages. This is your mate you will have and/or are looking for in your life. This can indicate the kind of marriage, and whether you will divorce. This relates to other partnerships, as well, including business, lawyers, counselors and even politics. It covers contracts you enter into, and both sides ina dispute. This is your ability to work harmoniously with others. This, too, contains your open enemies or adversaries. This is your shared goals. This house relates to Libra. Key words: Partnerships; harmony; marriage; the public; open enemies.

The 8th House


This is the house of Death and Rebirth. This is one of the mystical houses within your chart. This is where spiritual transforamtion takes place, and it rules the life forces that surround sex, birth, death and the reincarnation . It relates to legacies, inheritances, both material and spiritual. This also realtes to partners moneys and possessions, and taxes and debt. This has some indications as to one's death. Surgery can be governed by this house. This is the house where your psychic ability comes from, as well as occult matters. This house relates to Scorpio. The 9th House


This is the house of Travel and Philosophy. This realtes to higher education, long distance travel, philosophy, study, mental pursuits, religion. This is the house of the higher mind. The concerns here are foreign or distant travel, long journeys, the study of foreign language. This rules the public expression of ideas, recognition, as well as literary and publishing. This house relatees to Sagittarius. Key words: Philosophy; religion; law; foreign travel; world-view; higher education.

The 10th House


This is the house of career and public standing. The tenth house rules all matters in the outside world, including your profession, your status, and your reputation. This is the house of ambition, and aspirations and attainment. This reveals in what regard others see you. This is your image, your honors, position and power that you achieve. It is the outer expression of your talents, and the way you accept responsibility, and what you achieve through your own efforts. This relates to material success in life. This house relates to Capricorn. Key words: Career; profession; attainment in the outer world; the more distant parent; achievement; aspirations; goals.

The 11th House


This is the house of friends, hopes and wishes. This is long term aspirations. Your creativity used for the outer world. This is your house of intellectual pleasures. This house relates to group activiites, organizations, clubs and societies or political associations you belong to. This can indicate the kind of friends and acquaintances you associate with and who best further your goals and objectives in life. This is where you have the ability to enjoy other people. This is the house of idealism and vision. This house relates to Aquarius. Key words: Groups; organizations; friends; impersonal relationships; acquaintances; peers; hopes; wishes; idealism.

The 12th House


This is the house of secrets, sorrows and self-undoing. This is where limitations are placed on your life. This is a highly psychic house. This relates to disappointments, accidents, troubles and self-defeat. The key here is faith issues. This rules secret enemies, unseen foces, escapism, asylums, hospitals, and prisons. This is the House of Karma and spiritual debt, as it contains rewards and punishment for what one does in this world. This house strongly relates to psychic gifts and to the ability to understand the meaning of life. This house relates to Pisces. Key words: concealment; mysticism; confinement; mental health; institutions; psychic ability; faith.
